Chassis:
The third 008 built, this example was allocated to Patrick Depailler for the majority of the season. He debuted the car at Kyalami with a second-place finish and then scored a victory in the Monaco Grand Prix. He also finished on the podium in Austria and forced fourth at Brands and fifth in Montreal. Ahead of the 1979 season, it was sold to the Melchester racing team and raced by Desiré Wilson in the Aurora-AFX Championship. In 1982, it was acquired by John Foulston, who fielded it in historic events for John Brindley in historic events. He scored several wins before the car was sold on to noted collector Nick Mason of Pink Floyd fame. It eventually passed on to an American enthusiast, who has raced the car in historic events on both sides of the Atlantic for several years. In 2024, the Monaco Grand Prix winning machine was fittingly consigned as one of the headliners of the Bonhams Grandes Marques a Monaco sale.
